Sarah Copperberg studied Fine Arts and Photography at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts. She has been teaching preschool age children for over 8 years. Sarah and her husband Doug have been happily raising their two sons, dog and chickens in Gorham since 2010. Early Childhood Enrichment Program.
Mari Dieumegard is a Narrative Painter and the owner of Raven Roost Studio in Standish, Maine. Growing up in Southwest Alaska, she was exposed to the folk and native art. As she continued her art education in Pennsylvania, N.Y.C. and Maine, she was drawn to the work of other artists inspired by folk and narrative art such as Frida Kahlo, Marc Chagall, Will Barnet, Modigliani and Matisse. Mari teaches early childhood and elementary art part time at Breakwater School in Portland, Maine. Danielle Grady is a senior librarian assistant in the Youth Services Department at Baxter Memorial Library. Dani enjoys her job as it allows her to indulge in her passion of connecting children, books and art. This is her third year with Gorham Arts Alliance and her fourteenth year at the library.
Peggy Marchand is intriqued by turning colors into a liquid and helping it flow into fabrics or Paper. Peggy gravitated towards watercolor as a medium as it seemed like a natural choice when she took up painting not too long ago. Although she has taught every grade level both in public and private schools for many years, she is especially excited to be teaching her first class with the Gorham Art Alliance.
Hannah Tauroney is in her first year of teaching Art at Bonny Eagle Middle School and her 4th year teaching Art through the Gorham Arts Alliance. She received her Bachelors of Art degree from Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY and her Post-Baccalaureate degree in Art Education from Maine College of Art. When not teaching she enjoys painting Maine’s beautiful scenery, traveling, and re-doing old furniture and findings!
Jude Valentine, a long-time resident of Maine, completed her BFA at the Maine College of Art and received an MFA in visual art from Vermont College of Fine Art. In addition to her studio practice, she has taught art and design classes to youth and adults, through school and summer session workshops and residencies and at the college level since 1982. She is currently an adjunct member of the interdisciplinary fine art faculty at the University of Maine in Machias.
Leslie Zate is in her first year teaching 8th grade art at Auburn Middle School. This will be her 3rd summer teaching with the Gorham Art Alliance. She has a BFA in Fine Arts from Wright State University and a BFA in Art Education from USM. Leslie adores color and line and uses these elements of art in her paintings, drawings and prints. When not at work or in front of a canvas, you will often find her wandering outdoors, hiding behind a book, aimlessly biking, attempting to garden and cook.
